About Us

Ms. Susan Kumar was most recently the Director at the Palisades Park Public Library in New Jersey and is currently Vice President of the Board of Trustees at the Fort Lee Public Library. She has taught Change Management at the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences.

Her experience with Change Management goes back to the late eighties and nineties when telecom industry was undergoing rapid change after the deregulation and the post-Judge Green era. Susan worked on business transformation and competitive analysis at various divisions of Verizon over a 15 year period. The divisions covered a wide range of product offerings - from Yellow Pages (remember those?) to new product offerings based on new technologies which we take for granted today. Prior to that,she worked at New York City’s Departments of Economic Development, Special Services for Children and the archives of the City of New York Records division. Her responsibilities in these public sector positions ranged from teamwork for environmentally responsible urban planning, assessing quality of care for children in need, and assessing grant opportunities and applications for all NYC departments.

Ms. Kumar holds a B.A. with a double major in History and Political Science from Columbia University, New York, M.Sc. in Urban and Regional Planning from London School of Economics, U.K., and M.S. in Library and Information Sciences from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Param Kumar is the founding president of NirvanaSoft Inc. which designed and marketed the premier software solution for back-office processes including customer service, billing, and settlements for energy service companies. NirvanaSoft was founded in 1997 and was acquired by Hansen Technologies, an Australian public company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX: HSN) in 2010. Currently, Dr. Kumar holds the position of Executive Vice President in Hansen Technologies North America.

Dr. Kumar has served on many industry organizations and boards and was involved in the electricity deregulation process since its inception in 1998 as a member of the PJM Restructuring Committee. NirvanaSoft clients in the past included some of the most sophisticated retail energy marketers including Con Edison Solutions, Constellation, Direct Energy, BP, Calpine, Hess Corporation, Wal-Mart, MidAmerican Energy, Agway Energy Services, EDF Trading North America and Xcel Energy.

Prior to starting NirvanaSoft, Dr. Kumar worked in the media and telecom industries, with Time Warner Inc. where he held several senior management positions over a period of fifteen years and was last the Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations at Warner Music Enterprises. 

Dr. Kumar holds an MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University, England and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Columbia University, New York.
